These Terms of Service applies to the Web-based Proposal Application Service (Service) provided by the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (RCSLA). Before using the Service, please be sure to read through and agree to these Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service.

DEFINITION

Under these Terms of Service, any individuals who register their personally identifiable information with RCSLA (incl. users of the For Users Page) are defined as Users.

ID, PASSWORD AND SECURITY
RCSLA issues a User Card Number (ID) to identify Users and to offer a secure Service for Users. Users are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their ID and password. It is Users’ sole responsibility to ensure the security of their ID and password. Users agree to notify RCSLA immediately of any unauthorized use of their account or password, or any other breach of security.

UNAUTHORIZED ACTIVITIES

Users agree not to do any of the following while using the Service:

  • infringe intellectual property rights, privacy and any other rights of other Users, RCSLA, and third parties;
  • violate any applicable law or regulation;
  • interfere with the use of the Service;
  • unauthorized use of ID and password;
  • upload or otherwise transmit or through the Service any material that contains any virus or other harmful code that may change or disrupt the Service;
  • reproduce, republish, transmit, give, rent, translate, reprint, sub-license, reverse engineer, or disassemble any portion of the Service except for the content identified as being licensed from Users;
  • any other activities that are deemed inappropriate by RCSLA.

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Service is provided on an "as is" basis and RCSLA makes no representations, guarantees, and/or warranties as to the accuracy, efficacy, completeness, and fitness for any particular purpose.

RCSLA backs up data registered with the Service on a regular basis in the way prescribed by RCSLA. If the data is lost or damaged due to hardware or software problems, RCSLA will do its best to restore the data to the extent possible from backup.

RCSLA assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, damages, costs or expenses whatsoever incurred by Users resulting from the use of the Service. In the event of any loss or damage to RCSLA or a third party arising out of Users’ use of the Service, Users must indemnify RCSLA in respect of any claims, damages, costs or expenses.

REVISIONS TO REGISTERED INFORMATION

In the event information which has been registered in this Service by the user changes, the user shall promptly update the registered information in this Service. RCSLA shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage, such as the user not being able use this Service because RCSLA not being able to transfer information, which may occur as a result of the user not updating the registered information.

HANDLING OF REGISTERED INFORMATION

When a user uses this Service, RCSLA shall store the registered information for a certain period of time. Request to cancel a registration is not accepted except for cases of duplicate registration. Furthermore, a registration may be deleted as determined by RCSLA in cases of duplicate registration or lack of regular use of this Service.

REVISIONS TO USE REGULATIONS

Contents of these regulations may be revised without prior or subsequent approval of the user as determined by RCSLA as needed. By using of this Service after the revision, it shall be deemed as agreement by the user to such revision. In the event of a revision to this regulation, RCSLA shall make a notification or announcement to the user of such revision in a way considered appropriate by RCSLA, such as publication on the website (User Information).
